Abstract

Pembelajaran menulis bagi siswa SMP menurut kurikulum KTSP adalah menjadikan siswa mampu menulis wacana pendek dan esai berbentuk report, descriptive, procedure, dan narrative. Untuk itulah berdasarkan tujuan pembelajaran menulis tersebut, dalam menguasai keempat keterampilan berbahasa, menulis salah satunya harus juga dapat digunakan siswa dalam kehidupan sehari‐hari. Namun kondisi yang terjadi didalam kelas menunjukkan minat siswa yang sangat kurang dalam menulis. Siswa menganggap menulis bukanlah keterampilan menulis yang harus dikuasai melainkan hanya salah satu factor yang dapat membuat siswa naik kelas sehingga dalam tulisan siswa masih ditemukan kesalahan‐kesalahan dalam penggunaan kaidah bahasa dan kata‐kata yang belum tepat. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, guru kelas menerapkan satu teknik menulis yaitu Writing Games. Writing Games adalah permainan menulis yang terdiri dari beberapa permainan dan guru memilih dua jenis permainan menulis yaitu Silly Story dan What’s Next. Silly Story menekankan pada kemampuan siswa menulis dan What’s Next? menekankan pada kemampuan siswa menulis kalimat paragraph. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus dan masing‐masing siklus terdiri dari perencanaan,pelaksanaan,pengamatan dan refleksi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik Writing Games memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil kuesioner siswa yang menyatakan bahwa seluruh siswa menyukai teknik ini dan teknik ini juga membantu siswa dalam menulis dan menuangkan ide‐ide yang kreatif. Dari hasil nilai menulis siswa menunjukkan peningkatan dalam menulis dibandingkan dengan nilai menulis mereka pada semester lalu sebelum menggunakan Writing Games.
